LIVERPOOL SCHOOL OF TROPICAL MEDICINE

Liverpool School

Two Contracting businesses worked together to deliver the £1-million curtain walling and structural glazing contract for Shepherd Construction on the new Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine for Tropical and Infectious Diseases.

Solaglas Contracting North provided curtain walling while Solaglas Structural Contracting used the Eckelt spider glass system to create a bolted glass entrance screen mounted on glass fins. The screen runs round the lower floors of the main block and extension, with curtain walling used from the second floor upwards. The package also incorporated glazing of a fifth floor bridge linking the two buildings at the site, and revolving doors for the main entrance.

Following the successful completion of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine project Shepherd Construction has awarded Solaglas Structural Contracting the contract to supply unitised glazing in a package worth £5-million on the prestigious St Paul’s development in Sheffield – a development of luxury apartments which when completed will be the tallest building in Sheffield at 32-storeys.
