The organisers of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Finland were singing the praises of Glass Processing and Distribution branch, Solaglas Bradford, following the branch’s excellent work in supplying their Yorkshire based customer Stage One with the glass used on the contest’s stage.
Working closely with Stage One and with the support of sister branches Solaglas Hayes and Solaglas Sittingbourne, the branch successfully supplied 130 individual rectangular pieces of 21.5mm SGG STADIP® SECURIT toughened laminated glass which, together with some 26 curved shaped sections, made up the spectacular stage and walkway.
Matthew Kirby, Business Manager of Solaglas Bradford says it was all down to excellent communication and teamwork: “Effective use of the range of capabilities available within our own network meant that we were able to meet our customer's exact specifications, using a variety of different manufacturing processes. The challenging 10 day turn-around requested was met due to constant communication between the branches involved and also with our customer. The glass was delivered to Stage One on time without a single piece damaged in any way and it looked superb on the night.”
Though Britain didn’t take home the 1st prize from the contest, the stage certainly managed to dazzle the judges as well as the millions of viewers watching the show around the world.
